Meet Barbara Rath, Second Grade Teacher at Sweetwater School, Barbara's thorough, caring and encouraging approach inspires students to go above and beyond what they believe they can do and find joy in learning. It's been said that “watching Barb teach is like watching a symphony performance. Every move is planned and purposeful. Transitions are seamless and smooth. She is the director of the action, but students are ‘playing their instruments’ throughout the lesson, not just listening to the director.” Barb’s teaching skills don’t stop with children. As a National Board Certified teacher, she mentors new teachers and hosts student teachers and interns.
Forty-four National Board Certified teachers are employed in the WESD (including five who renewed their certification after 10 years), the third highest number of any district in Arizona.
