Greetings Parents and Guardians,

I am Dr. Paul Stanton, and I am honored to be the Superintendent of the Washington Elementary School District (WESD). Thank you to all our parents and guardians who joined us for Parent/Teacher Conferences this week. I know our schools were proud to host you to discuss your child’s growth and progress. Participating in these meetings not only builds collaboration with our schools, but also supports our students to ensure they achieve success.

In this update, I will share highlights of our NBCT teacher celebration, student artwork recognition, and our recent refugee and McKinney-Vento events. I will also provide an update on our #AttendanceMattersWESD campaign with second quarter highlights, and a reminder about our upcoming District-Wide Job Fair.

WESD Celebrates Mountain Sky NBCT Teacher Becky Wright

Our District was proud to honor one of our National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) as part of Balloon Day. Congratulations to Mountain Sky Junior High School Instructional Coach Becky Wright who recently learned she maintained her National Board Certification. To celebrate this incredible achievement, I surprised Ms. Wright with a golden NBCT balloon along with WESD Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lyn Bailey, WESD Administrative Coach Rich Morris, Mountain Sky Principal Julia Herman, Mountain Sky Assistant Principal Adelina Bordonaro, Shaw Butte Assistant Principal and WESD NBCT Facilitator Marcy Hyde, and other Mountain Sky staff members.

The WESD Family is so proud of Ms. Wright for her dedication to enhancing her profession and pursuing excellence.

WESD Art Students Recognized at Governing Board Meeting

Shout out to the second group of students whose artwork was displayed in our Governing Board Room this school year from November 2022 to January 2023. During a recent Governing Board meeting, the Board recognized these student artists from Desert View Elementary School, Maryland School, Mountain View School, Richard E. Miller Elementary School and Sunnyslope School, and presented them with special certificates.

We congratulate these talented students for displaying their skills in the arts.

WESD Hosts Refugee and McKinney-Vento Support Events

At WESD, we are dedicated to supporting the needs of all our students and families, including our refugee and McKinney-Vento (homeless/highly mobile) families. Last month, our District hosted an event for our refugee families from Alta Vista Elementary School and Palo Verde Middle School to provide them with valuable tips and tools to help their children succeed in school. Additionally, we were glad to host a parent event earlier this month for all our McKinney-Vento families to provide them with free resources. Special thank you to everyone that made these opportunities possible for our students and families.

WESD Celebrates Second Quarter Attendance Achievements

I am proud to share another exciting update regarding second quarter attendance as part of our #AttendanceMattersWESD campaign. Thanks to the 3,999 students who earned perfect attendance, our attendance rate reached 91.9%. Perfect attendance students also received special digital certificates in honor of their incredible accomplishments. We are very proud of our students and their families for their dedication to being in school each and every day. Let's keep up the great work, WESD Family!

WESD to Host February District-Wide Job Fair

The previously communicated WESD Teacher Interview Fair will now be a District-Wide Job Fair. Please join us on Saturday, February 25th, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the WESD Administrative Center. We will be looking to fill a variety of certified, substitute and support staff positions. If you are interested in a teacher or speech pathologist position, please preschedule an interview by February 24th by calling 602-347-2622. Walk-ins are welcome for all other positions. Soy el Dr. Paul Stanton, y tengo el honor de ser el Superintendente del Distrito Escolar Washington (WESD por sus siglas en inglés). WESD Celebra a la Maestra NBCT Becky Wright de la Escuela Mountain Sky

Nuestro Distrito se enorgulleció de homenajear a uno de nuestros Maestros Certificados por el Consejo Nacional (NBCT por sus siglas en inglés) como parte del Día del Globo. Felicitaciones a la Instructora de Enseñanza Becky Wright de la Escuela Mountain Sky, quien recientemente se enteró de que mantiene su Certificación del Consejo Nacional. Para celebrar este logro increíble, sorprendí a la Srta. Wright con un globo dorado de NBCT junto con la Asistente Superintendente del WESD la Dra. Lyn Bailey, el Instructor Administrativo del WESD Rich Morris, la Directora de Mountain Sky Julia Herman, la Asistente Directora de Mountain Sky Adelina Bordonaro, la Asistente Directora de Shaw Butte y Facilitadora NBCT del WESD Marcy Hyde y otros miembros del personal de Mountain Sky.

La Familia del WESD está orgullosa de la Srta. Wright por su dedicación para mejorar su profesión y buscar la excelencia.

Estudiantes de Arte del WESD Reciben Reconocimiento en la Reunión del Consejo Administrativo

Reconocimiento para el segundo grupo de estudiantes cuyas obras de arte fueron presentadas en el Salón del Consejo Administrativo este año escolar de noviembre del 2022 a enero del 2023. Durante una reunión reciente del Consejo Administrativo, el Consejo les dio reconocimiento a estos estudiantes artistas de las Escuelas Desert View, Maryland, Mountain View, Richard E. Miller y Sunnyslope y les otorgaron certificados especiales.

Felicitamos a estos estudiantes talentosos por mostrar sus habilidades en las artes.

WESD fue Anfitrión de Eventos de Apoyo para Refugiados y McKinney-Vento

En el WESD, estamos dedicados a apoyar las necesidades de todos nuestros estudiantes y familias, incluyendo a nuestras familias de refugiados y McKinney-Vento (sin hogar/altamente móviles). El mes pasado, nuestro Distrito fue el anfitrión de un evento para nuestras familias de refugiados de las Escuelas Alta Vista y Palo Verde para proveerles con consejos valiosos y herramientas para ayudar a sus hijos a ser exitosos en la escuela. Además, estuvimos encantados de ser los anfitriones de un evento para padres anteriormente este mes para todas nuestras familias de McKinney-Vento para proveerles recursos gratuitos. Un agradecimiento especial a todos los que hicieron posibles estas oportunidades para nuestros estudiantes y familias.

WESD Celebra los Logros de Asistencia del Segundo Trimestre

Estoy orgulloso de compartir otra actualización emocionante en cuanto a la asistencia en nuestro segundo trimestre como parte de nuestra campaña #AttendanceMattersWESD. Gracias a los 3,999 estudiantes que obtuvieron asistencia perfecta, nuestra tasa de asistencia llegó a 91.9%. Los estudiantes con asistencia perfecta también recibieron certificados digitales especiales en honor a sus logros increíbles. Estamos muy orgullosos de nuestros estudiantes y sus familias por su dedicación a estar en la escuela cada día. ¡Mantengamos el gran esfuerzo, Familia del WESD!

WESD será el Anfitrión de una Feria Laboral para Todo el Distrito

La Feria Laboral para Maestros del WESD previamente comunicada, ahora se llevará acabo como una Feria Laboral para Todo el Distrito. Favor de acompañarnos el sábado, 25 de febrero, de 8:30 a.m. a 12:30 p.m. en el Centro Administrativo del WESD. Esperamos cubrir una variedad de posiciones para personal certificado, sustituto y de apoyo. Si están interesados en una posición como maestro o patólogo de habla, favor de hacer una cita con anticipación a más tardar el 24 de febrero, al llamar al 602-347-2622. Se aceptan personas sin citas para todas las otras posiciones.
