    Welcome to the Washington Elementary School District

    Washington Elementary School District (WESD) is proud to serve a diverse population in north central Phoenix and east Glendale. WESD is the largest elementary school district in Arizona, comprised of 32 schools (19 K-6 schools, one K-5 school, seven K-8 schools and five middle/junior high schools) serving over 23,000 students.

    • All students recieve instruction in the arts, including general mustic and instrumental music.
    • Physical fitness is encouraged through physical education classes and after-school athletic opportunities such as cross country and cheerleading.
    • Students can pursue interests and gain leadership skills through a variety extracirricular opportunities including yearbook, chess club, National Junior Honor Society, student newspaper and more.
    • Highly qualified teachers provide standards-aligned instruction throughout the district. 
    • Free breakfast and lunch is provided to all students.

    WESD offers special needs preschool, a Head Start program for students aged 3-4 and an Early Childhood Enrichment (ECE) program for 4 year old students.
