- Face masks are required indoors at all district facilities for students, staff and visitors.
- Face masks are requred on all district transportation per a CDC order
- Physical distancing of three feet or more to the greatest extent possible will be practiced. The WESD has committed to reducing class size this year to help with this step.
- Enhanced air cleaning and ventilation will be utilized.
- Students and staff will wash their hands frequently and use proper respiratory etiquette.
- High touch point areas will be disinfected often.
- Students and staff will be encouraged to stay home when they are sick.
- Contact tracing, in combination with isolation and quarantine, will be used to limit spread.
- Visitors and volunteers will not be permitted beyond the front office for the first quarter.

Athletics
Basketball is available for students in grades 5-6, cross country is available to students in grades K-6.

Attendance
If a child will be absent from school, please call the attendance line prior to 9:00 a.m. at 602-896-5311. Voicemail is available 24 hours a day. When you know in advance that your child will be absent, please notify the attendance clerk before the absence date. Arizona State Law requires that in order for an absence to be excused, parents must notify the school on or before the day of the absence and provide a valid reason for the absence. Please note that excused tardies and absences may require additional verification such as a doctor's note

Before/After School Care
If you are needing before or after school care for your child please stop in to the Chaparral office as soon as possible to pick up a Kidspace registration packet. The Chaparral office is open from 7:45am-4:15pm daily except Wednesdays the office is open until 3:15pm. Space is very limited on our campus and tends to fill up quickly. Completed packets will need to be turned in to the registration center at 3200 W Cholla St, Phoenix, AZ 85029.

Dress Code
Uniforms are notn required, however, students must adhere to dress code guidelines. Please click here for more information on our dress code. All students are required to wear an ID while on school campus.

Nutrition
Breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge to all students.

ParentVUE
All parents and guardians have a ParentVUE account that can be used to access important information about their student such as grades and attendance. Parents/guardians will need an activation key to log on for the first time. You can obtain an activation key by visiting the school office and bringing a photo ID. If you have a registered email, you can also request account activation online. Please visit https://www.wesdschools.org/ParentVUE to get started.

Transportation
Chapparal Elementary is a walking school and does not provide transportation to regular education students. Therefore, families are responsible for the tranasportation of thier student to and from school. All students who ride bikes to school must put their bicycle in the designated bike rack and lock it individually. Chaparral Elementary is not responsible for lost or stolen bicycles.

Visiting Campus
*For the first quarter of thte 2021-2022 school year, visitors and volunteers are not allowed on campus*
We welcome visitors to our campus. Please arrange a time to visit with your child's teacher. All visitors must sign in in the front office and receive a visitor's badge and sign out before leaving campus for their own safety and the safety of our students.
