WESD Seeks Input on ELA Curriculum Materials

Washington Elementary School District is in the process of reviewing and adopting English Language Arts (ELA) materials to support teachers with instruction in reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary to enhance student achievement.

WESD is inviting teachers, staff, families and community members to view the variety of materials on display at the WESD Administrative Center and to provide input. The ELA Adoption Committee will review all feedback to help make an informed recommendation to the superintendent and Governing Board. All materials that are being reviewed are aligned to the Arizona English Language Arts Standards.

Materials can be reviewed in person at the WESD Administrative Center, 4650 W. Sweetwater Ave., Glendale, AZ 85304 during regular business hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Materials are available for review through March 16. We hope to have a link to allow interested parties to review materials virtually. We will share it out when it is available.

If you have questions about the ELA materials or the process, please contact Paula McWhirter, director of Curriculum and Instruction, at paula.mcwhirter@wesdschools.org.
