Lookout Mountain School Recognized as Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School

The WESD is proud to announce that Lookout Mountain School is an Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School for 2020! During a special virtual broadcast hosted by the U.S. Department of Education, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos recognized Lookout Mountain as an Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School. Lookout Mountain is one of 367 schools in the nation and one of five schools from Arizona to be recognized in 2020.

The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content. National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation; personnel at National Blue Ribbon Schools are often sought out as mentors.

The 2020 National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards Ceremony will be held virtually Nov. 12 and 13. Visit nationalblueribbonschools.ed.gov to view Lookout Mountain’s successful application posted on the National Blue Ribbon Schools website detailing key elements of successful schools, from individualized student supports, intentional instruction, collaborative cultures, and targeted curricula.

Congratulations to Lookout Mountain Principal Tricia Heller-Johnson, Assistant Principal Crystal Bustamante, teachers, staff, students, and the entire Lookout Mountain family!
