Dr. Craig Carter, administrator of Special Services, receives the Phoenix Mayor's Commission on Disability Issues 2018 Outstanding Educator Award

Congratulations to Dr. Craig Carter, administrator of Special Services, for receiving the Phoenix Mayor's Commission on Disability Issues 2018 Outstanding Educator Award! This award honors educators who work to create inclusion for all learners and have made “extraordinary efforts to meet the needs of students with disabilities in or outside of the classroom through the use of innovative approaches.” Dr. Carter will be recognized on October 30 at the Burton Barr Library.

A crew from the City of Phoenix filmed Dr. Craig Carter, in preparation for receiving the award. The video will be shown at the awards ceremony. Part of the video will feature Sahuaro Elementary School parent Alene Brinkley, who shares her son William’s story of moving from a self-contained special education classroom to the general education setting. Dr. Carter’s commitment to inclusive practices is one of the many reasons he was selected for this honor. Also featured is Dr. Debbie Meehling, school psychologist and Dr. Carter’s colleague.

Congratulations, Dr. Carter!
