Arizona Healthy Schools Act
Important Changes for 2026-2027 School Year
Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, the Arizona Healthy Schools Act prohibits foods containing 11 specified dyes and additives from being served or sold to students during the school day.
When do these requirements apply?
These requirements apply from midnight before the school day until 30 minutes after the instructional day ends and affect classroom celebrations, birthdays, holidays, incentives, fundraisers, school stores, and other foods and beverages available at school.
These new requirements do not apply to lunches or snacks that parents pack for their own child. Parents may continue to pack any lunch, snack or treat for their child, however, sharing is NOT permitted.
PLEASE NOTE:
In order to comply with these new guidelines, families and staff are no longer permitted to bring outside food or beverages for classroom parties and snacks.

ALLOWED
- Food fundraisers that are held off campus or outside of the school day OR that use vendors who do not use any of the restricted ingredients. *
- Food brought by parents for their own child
- Celebrating with non-food items like stickers, pencils and fun trinkets.
RESTRICTED
- Serving or selling food during the school day* that contain banned ingredients
- Serving foods containing banned ingredients during classroom parties and celebrations
- School-sponsored rewards or incentives with banned ingredients
