K-8 Athletics

Sports That Shape Strong Futures

Within the Washington Elementary School District there are seven K-8 schools - Abraham Lincoln, Arroyo, Maryland, Mountain View, Orangewood, Sunnyslope, and Sweetwater. 

The K-8 schools host both 5-6 grade sports and 7-8 grade sports.  

Currently, the K-8 schools offer the following sports:

7-8 Grade Girls' Volleyball

5-6 Grade Boys' Basketball

7-8 Grade Boys' Basketball

5-6 Grade Girls' Basketball

7-8 Grade Girls' Basketball

7-8 Grade Co-Ed Soccer

7-8 Grade Girls Softball

7-8 Grade Boys' and Girls' Track and Field -  An extension of P.E. 

5-6 Grade Boys' and Girls' Track and Field -  An extension of P.E.

K-8 Boys' and Girls' Cross Country 

Purpose:

  • To develop sports skills by maximizing participation and focusing on instruction.
  • To develop the positive values of athletics, including sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperation, and competition.
  • To provide as many students as possible the opportunity to participate in activities they enjoy.
  • To provide competitive situations preparing student athletes for the transition to the High School level.
