Academic Services

The focus of the work of Academic Services is student achievement in support of the Mission of the Washington Elementary School District. Academic Services Departments facilitate the design and implementation of District curricula, assessment, and instructional programs. All curricula are aligned with Arizona Academic Standards, and all assessments are aligned with WESD curricula. Instructional programs to meet the needs of learners include programs for English language learners, preschool, gifted and special education students. Supplemental education programs include Head Start, K-3 Override and Title I programs to assist students at risk for academic success.

Professional Development services support ongoing, job-embedded, and systemic professional development for teachers, administrators and classified staff. Instructional technology staff works with teachers in the use and integration of technology tools including SmartBoard technology.

Grant Development provides assistance in developing partnerships and resources to enhance professional development and program opportunities for students, staff and school communities.
